Querying Documents

Ask questions across your uploaded documents using AI.

How Document Querying Works​

When you upload documents, Second Seat processes and indexes them. You can then ask questions in natural language, and the AI will search across your documents to find relevant information.

Starting a Document Query​

  1. Open the case with your documents
  2. Start a new conversation
  3. Ask your question naturally

Example queries:

  • "What did the witness say about the time of the incident?"
  • "Find all mentions of the defendant's alibi"
  • "Summarize the officer's testimony from the hearing transcript"

Query Results​

The AI will:

  • Find relevant passages in your documents
  • Cite the specific document and page
  • Provide a synthesized answer

Tips for Better Results​

  • Be specific about what you're looking for
  • Reference document types if known (e.g., "in the police report")
  • Ask follow-up questions to drill deeper
